Advance Payment

The advance payment provision provides terminally ill members with access to a portion of their Life Insurance funds prior to their death. The amount of the advance payment, plus interest, is deducted from the amount paid to the member’s beneficiary upon the member’s death.

The maximum amount available for an advance payment is equal to 50% of your Life Insurance coverage or $50,000, whichever is less. The advance payment is not subject to income tax.

To qualify for an advance payment, a member must be suffering from a terminal illness and have a life expectancy of 24 months or less.
