Acquiring Coverage After Initial Waiver

If you initially waive coverage because you have coverage under an alternate group plan and you lose that coverage, you have 60 days from the date of coverage loss to enrol in the HEB Manitoba Plan without benefit restrictions. You must complete and submit a Change Form through your employer to declare the loss of coverage.

If you submit a Change Form to declare the loss of alternate coverage and enrol in the HEB Manitoba Plan more than 60 days after the loss of alternate coverage, you and your eligible family members will each be subject to a one-year waiting period for Healthcare and/or Dental benefits. Premiums will not be deducted until the one-year waiting period ends. The one-year waiting period begins the day you sign the form, provided HEB Manitoba receives the form within 10 business days from the date you signed it. If HEB Manitoba receives the form after 10 business days of you signing it, the waiting period starts on the date HEB Manitoba receives the form.
